Background of the Ethical Dilemmas research study available from Connections Counseling PLLC

NYS Clinicians participating in the Ethics Dilemmas study: 

The Ethics for the Counseling Professions course is being used as part of a research effort at this time. The overarching objective of this course is to acquaint counselors with ethical values which undergird the counseling professions in general. Also, to acquaint counselors with the practice of ethical decision-making so that counselors can use a harms and benefits analysis with value conflict situations in practice. The 2023-2024 Ethics for the Counseling Professions course will be given online and has received good reviews from those who have taken it. If you wish to take the Ethics for the Counseling Professions course for free and participate in a research study, the only requirement is that you agree that your information (completed surveys) can be used for research. During the “Ethics . .” course you will be expected to complete one 10-15 minute pre-training evaluation concerning your thoughts and practice before the course, and evaluate the course information and quality after course completion. These is and will be no penalty for non-participation. Your responses will remain confidential. If you decide not to participate at this time, you can re-register for the course at a later time.  The research has been reviewed  by the North Star Review Board and found to be exempt because of the minimal risk it poses to participants. If you want to ask questions about the study or your participation in the study, you can ask the research team at 845-255-5022. Background of the Ethical Dilemmas study

How do you make ethical decisions? Connections Counseling, PLLC is now the sponsor of research formerly sponsored by Best Practice Trainers, Inc (BPTI). Connections Counseling PLLC is sponsoring studies to answer questions about ethical decision-making. A free Ethics for the Counseling Professions webinar – approved for 2.25 CEs – is being offered to NYS clinicians throughout 2025 for participating in the research. Your answers may affect how we teach new clinicians.

Certificates

In order to receive a certificate, you will need to complete a pre-training questionnaire (10-15 minutes), a posttest with 75% accuracy, and a course evaluation. If you do not pass the posttest the first time, you’ll get a second chance with access to the training materials. Second tries must be authorized by the CE Director.
