As a licensed LCSW clinician, I have worked with teens, young adults, couples and older adults for thirty-six years. My private practice has been operative since 1998. I generally like working with clients who are beginning to understand that they can choose their path and want to work with someone to discuss their understandings, wants, and needs as they move toward change. Originally trained by Francine Shapiro in the EMDR method, I am now certified in the AF-EMDR method for working with trauma. I am working entirely virtually at this time. I have offices in New Paltz, NY and in mid-town Manhattan.
Experiences with teaching/training: Supervising and training Bachelor’s Degree psychology students in their field placements at the University of Michigan during my MSW training led me toward expertise in teaching, fieldwork supervision and understanding mental health issues in social work. I was an adjunct professor in the Master’s Degree Social Work program at Fordham University for seven years, teaching general social work classes and clinical assessment and diagnosis. I am creating classes for Connection Counseling’s continuing education program, and researching Ethics and the Latino use of substance use treatment services in New York. I’m beginning research on attachment styles and their relationship to trauma. I am currently supervising a social work student in her internship at the Connections Counseling PLLC practice.
