Join Dr. Allison Ross, LMSW, Ph.D. as she informs and educates us about gender violence. Survivors of gender violence can face significant emotional and psychological barriers following abuse. Dr. Ross discusses the problem of gender violence and evidence-based trauma-informed treatment approaches that help survivors thrive.
This 2.25 hour-long, beginning to intermediate level, recorded webinar, created in October, 2021, is designed for social workers and other clinical professionals.
Participants will be able to:
- list two theories that explain the dynamics of domestic violence.
- explain how the abuser and survivor interact in terms of power and control to create the dynamics of domestic violence
- name two clinical issues which are involved in family violence
- list three important aspects of creating a safety plan for those in an abusive relationship
- list three factors which increase the risk of Intimate Partner homicide for those in an abusive relationship.

For CASACs
Connections Counseling Psychotherapy LCSW PLLC is recognized by the Office of Addiction Services and Supports as an approved provider of continuing education for re-credentialing CASACs (#1435). This course work/training has been approved to satisfy CASAC renewal requirements and CPP/CPS initial/renewal credentialing requirements.
For NYS Clinicians
Recognized CE provider for NYS Social Workers (# SW-0747) and LMHCs (#MHC-0272), and (#MFT-0115) and has provider level approval to offer CEs for these recorded webinars to NYS SWers, LMHCs, and LMFTs. Registrants should note that only 1/3 of contact hours needed for NY clinicians can come from non-interactive web coursework.

In 2024, Connections Counseling is not offering credit for counselors in states other than New York State. We do not have ASWB approval to give CEs for this course to counselors in other states.
About the author
Allison Ross, LCSW, Ph.D.
Dr. Allison Ross has been a staff member in the clinical department of Sanctuary for Families – a NYC not-for-profit organization – since 2004. In 2008 she was named Assistant Clinical Director, a role including oversight of Sanctuary’s crisis shelters, outreach initiatives, post-shelter care, and clinical administrative matters. Dr. Ross was a leader in expanding Sanctuary’s Mentors Program. As Deputy Director, she now oversees all non-residential services including adult and children and family services at all Sanctuary locations.
Allison earned her MSW from Columbia University School of Social Work, and a Ph.D. in Social Work from Fordham University. She is an adjunct professor at the Columbia University School of Social Work and New York University School of Social Work.
